Playtimes at West Vale Academy
We believe play and learning go hand-in-hand. Playtime takes up 20% of a child’s school day and provides opportunities for children to learn all the things that cannot be taught: socialisation, co-operation, coordination, resilience, creativity, imagination and negotiation. This is why we are constantly striving to improve our play offer at West Vale Academy. We train our KS2 child as play leaders to develop leadership skills to enable all our children to have an active happy playtime. Our highly skilled lunchtime staff support our children to engage in a variety of different activities allowing children to discover and foster new talents.
Play Pod
Each lunchtime we also have the option of ‘play pod’ for our children. ‘Play Pod’ allows children a small safe space to participate in a variety of activities such as crocheting, arts and crafts, obstacle courses and many more. The group is run by our pastoral lead Mrs Burgin with the aim of supporting children who may have difficulties with social communication or struggle with friendships.
