Welcome
Mrs Crowther Executive Headteacher
“
I am writing to introduce myself as the newly appointed Executive Principal of West Vale Academy. It is with great enthusiasm that I start this journey to work with Mrs Akroyd to lead the school, furthering high standards for the children and wider school community.
I have been the Principal at The Greetland Academy for over six years and have worked with staff in school to ensure the best possible outcomes for all our children. As Executive Principal, I believe in fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where every member of our school community feels valued and is supported to reach their potential, and that both schools work well together continuing the high standards of Great Heights Academy Trust.
I am excited about the opportunity to get to know the children, staff and families more closely, and passionate about children’s wellbeing while allowing children to have fun and flourish during what I believe should be the best years of their education.
I look forward to this new chapter, it is an honour to be joining West Vale Academy and I am eager to begin contributing towards its continued success.
Our School
West Vale Academy has been at the heart of the surrounding community since 1879.
Since March 2018 the school has taken its next developmental step, joining The Great Heights Academy Trust.
We are very proud of our School and its ever-improving learning opportunities.
Outdoor play areas are enhanced with the addition of the Foundation Stage outdoor play area and the football/chess area to the rear of school. Playtime and lunchtime staff are enthusiastic, offering children the chance to skip, play with hoops and balls and join in organised activities.
The Governing Body, Principal, teaching and ancillary staff are enthusiastically committed to maintaining a warm, friendly, caring, family atmosphere; which is evident and appreciated by all visitors to the School.
We believe that children are best nurtured towards reaching their full potential when they are happy and secure in their school environment. We are aware that all parents want the best for their children and our aim is to provide every pupil at West Vale Academy with the best possible start to their education.
West Vale Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, parents, carers, volunteers and governors to share this commitment. A copy of the school’s Safeguarding Policy can be found on the website or obtained from the school office.
The Executive Headteacher/ Head of School, teaching staff and members of the Governing Body are always available, by arrangement, should you wish to discuss the needs of your child.
Welcome
Mrs Akroyd
Head of School
“
I would like to welcome to you to West Vale Academy, we are a small school with high standards, excellent results and fantastic children and staff.
West Vale Academy is a safe, warm, welcoming and inclusive school where we all have the children’s best interests at heart. I strongly believe education and student success is a shared responsibility between the school staff, pupils and parents. As we work with our pupils to help them learn about the world around them through an innovative curriculum, we welcome and appreciate the support that parents give their children at home . I believe the foundation of a successful school is the cooperation between the students, staff, parents and community.
As Head of School , I am immensely proud of West Vale Academy and being part of Great Heights Academy Trust. I am excited to work with Mrs Crowther, our Executive Headteacher, to take our school on its journey from strength to strength.
I hope that the website gives you an insight into all of the incredible work we do.
