Community Links
West Vale Academy is proud to play an important part in the life of the wider community. We endeavour to be a good neighbour and try wherever possible to involve our children in local events and realise the difference they can make to society.
We are keen that our pupils recognise themselves as members of the school, local, national and even global community by contributing their enthusiasm and creativity into activities at all of these levels.
Our children have recently:
- Sang at a local care home
- Collected and donated items for Smart Move
- Supported ‘Calderdale Anti-Poverty Partnership’ by singing at one of their fabulous events.
We have community links with ‘Sheards Packaging’ who have generously donated items for our discos, supported our end of year shows with staging and contributed to displays within school. Our children have worked to design commemorative cards for their staff members for key birthdays and years of service.
We have strong links with Cross Hills Methodist Church, hosting their fantastic Messy Church sessions at Christmas and we are lucky to have their wonderful ‘open the book’ performances each half term.
We are also incredibly lucky to be a part of the wonderful ‘Food for Families’ project which helps support many of our families by providing a hot meal once a week.
